Description

The OAK Thermal (OAK-T) is Luxonis' first camera to combine a thermal sensor with a color image sensor, letting developers fuse thermal frames, color frames and AI models for applications across agriculture, industrial monitoring, security and transportation.

Key highlights

  • Thermal + color fusion: pairs a Tiny1-C uncooled VOx thermal detector with an IMX462 color sensor for combined day/night perception.
  • Sensitive and accurate: 50mK thermal sensitivity @ 25°C and 25Hz, with ±2°C (or ±2%) accuracy over a −15°C to 150°C measurement range.
  • Application-ready: detect overheating, leaks and fires; monitor crops and livestock; enable night-vision security and traffic analytics.
  • Rugged connectivity: M12 PoE connector and M8 IO connector in a compact enclosure with a BMI270 IMU.
  • RVC2 powered: on-device AI, stereo depth and video encoding, with total power consumption up to ~6.5W when all features run at 100%.

Power consumption

Most power is consumed by the RVC2, so total draw depends on chip workload: base + PoE circuitry + camera streaming 3W–3.5W, thermal sensor ≤1W, AI subsystem ≤1W, stereo depth ≤0.5W, video encoder ≤0.5W. Reducing pipeline FPS lowers utilisation and power.
