The Livox Tele-15 is a high-performance LiDAR sensor engineered for advanced long-distance detection, making it a crucial component for autonomous driving, robotics, and mapping applications. Its design focuses on providing high precision and density in its point cloud data, allowing systems to perceive and react to distant objects, even at high speeds.

Key Performance Metrics

The standout feature of the Tele-15 is its impressive detection range. It can perceive objects with 50% reflectivity up to 500 meters away. Even for low-reflectivity targets (10%), such as a black car, it maintains a robust detection range of 320 meters. This long-range capability is coupled with high precision, boasting a range accuracy of ±2 cm and an angular accuracy of less than 0.03°.

The sensor utilizes a non-repetitive scanning pattern, which allows it to achieve a Field of View (FOV) coverage of 99.8% in just 100 milliseconds. This method provides a denser point cloud over time compared to traditional mechanical LiDARs. The Tele-15 has a point rate of 240,000 points per second in single return mode and 480,000 points per second in dual return mode, ensuring detailed environmental mapping.

At its core, the Tele-15 uses a 905 nm laser, which is classified as Class 1, making it safe for human eyes. The beam divergence is tightly controlled at 0.12° vertically and a remarkable 0.02° horizontally, contributing to its high accuracy over long distances.

Designed for durability and reliability in automotive and industrial environments, the Tele-15 is built to withstand harsh conditions. It has an IP67 rating, signifying it is dust-tight and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The operational temperature range is extensive, from -40°C to 85°C.

Connectivity and Power

The Livox Tele-15 interfaces via a 100 Mbps Ethernet connection for data output. It typically consumes 12 watts of power and operates on a voltage range of 10 to 15 V DC. For enhanced sensor fusion and motion compensation, it includes a built-in Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), the Bosch BMI088, which provides crucial data for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms. Data synchronization is supported via IEEE 1588-2008 (PTPv2) and Pulse Per Second (PPS).
