Description

The LimX Dynamics TRON 2 EDU is a modular, shape-shifting embodied AI platform engineered for robotics research, industrial application development, and multi-terrain navigation. Its modular hardware architecture provides a complete, unified platform supporting three distinct configurations: a stationary dual-arm setup, wheeled-leg mobility, and bipedal (sole feet) locomotion.

The 3-in-1 Architecture

TRON 2 can easily adapt to your research or deployment needs through its modular design, effectively offering three robots in one system.

  1. Dual-Arm Manipulation: Configured as a stationary humanoid torso, perfect for manipulation tasks, desktop research, and AI training with VR teleoperation.

  2. Wheeled Legs (All-Terrain Mobility): Combines wheels and legs to allow the robot to roll efficiently on flat surfaces at high speeds (up to 5 m/s) and traverse steep inclines.

  3. Sole (Bipedal Locomotion): Employs visual-based motion planning to step over obstacles and navigate stairs in multi-level environments.

Technical Specifications

The TRON 2 platform packs serious hardware to handle dynamic locomotion, complex manipulation, and onboard AI processing.

Performance & Compute

  • CPU: 11th Gen Intel Core i7-1165G7 @ 2.80 GHz

  • Storage: 2 TB

  • Battery: 9 Ah Ternary Lithium (Swappable). 80% increase in battery capacity over previous iterations.

  • Charging: 54 minutes (20% to 100%). Auto-recharging supported in Wheeled Legs mode.

  • Sensors: RGB-D cameras (Head, Waist, Wrist) for full-field perception, and an onboard Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU).

Arm Manipulation (Dual-Arm Mode)

Software Stack & VLA Development

The TRON 2 is positioned as an integrated Vision-Language-Action (VLA) platform, built to streamline the research pipeline from data collection to inference.

  • Integrated Workflow: Native all-in-one platform covering data collection, cleaning, annotation, model training, and inference deployment.

  • Pre-Loaded Models: Comes with tutorials for algorithms like ACT and Pi0, backed by over 10,000 open-sourced real-world datasets.

  • Sim2Real Support: Includes validated URDF models for smooth transfer from simulation to reality. Fully compatible with NVIDIA Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, and Gazebo.

  • Open SDK: Full Python and C++ SDK access with ROS1 and ROS2 compatibility.

Active Safety Features

To manage hardware risks during testing and teleoperation, the TRON 2 includes active safety boundaries (algorithmic constraints to prevent self-collision) and a dual redundant power design. If power is lost, the system automatically folds the arms into a secure position to prevent damage to the robot or the environment.
